Parents want the best for their children. One of the most important things we can give to our children is an education. Parents make countless sacrifices to give their children the best education possible.
Unfortunately, there are times when we are let down by the education our children receive. Sometimes, despite a parent’s best efforts, their pleas for improvement in their child’s education goes unheard. It can be frustrating for parents who are entrusted with the duty of knowing what is best for their child.
If you find yourself in this position, please reach out and give me a call at (262) 995-1344. I have spent close to a decade fighting for the rights of children as a Special Education teacher and IEP case manager. I now use that experience, coupled with my legal education, to continue the fight for children and their education.
All initial consultations are free and confidential. Below is a list of services I provide to help empower parents to fight for their child’s education:
Attend IEP Meetings - I will attend IEP meetings to help ensure that your children are receiving their services, that the services are appropriate, to make sure the IEP procedure is followed to protect your child’s rights, and to make sure the IEP given to you matches what was agreed upon in the meeting.
Review IEPs - If you have concerns about your child’s IEP, please bring in their IEP and I will review it with you. I will also go over the IEP and explain what each IEP should have in it and whether the IEP meets the basic requirements.
Section 504 Meetings - Like in an IEP meeting, a lawyer at a Section 504 meeting can help your child get the education to which they are entitled. I can help with preparing you for the meeting and be there fighting on behalf of your child.
Disciplinary Meetings - If your child faces discipline that could result in a loss of educational time or a permanent blot on their record, consider enlisting my help to make sure your voice is not lost in the meeting and that your child’s rights are preserved.
Expulsion Hearing & Appeals - The removal of your child for a period of time, or indefinitely, is very serious. Call me right away to discuss the best plan of action to take. The threat of expulsion is too devastating to your child to cross your fingers and hope for the best. You need to know your rights and every legal remedy you have.
Manifest Determination Reviews (MDRs)- When your Special Education child is facing a Manifest Determination Review, please call me right away. The future and rights of your child are at stake. MDRs can lead to expulsion so you need to make sure you have a lawyer with you fighting for your child.
